For Tuesday, September 2

1. Complete your weekly schedule and write down the times you plan to devote to homework for this class. Also identify two on-campus locations where you think you can work effectively. Don't let THIS be you!

2. Read Chapter 3 in The Transition to College Writing. Take notes on strategies you think might work for you in the reading you will do for this and for other classes. Specifically, write down two things you learned from the chapter.

3. Read Chapter 4 in The Transition to College Writing. Thinking about your own writing process or processes, what aspects of your process might need to change to accommodate expectations of your instructors at the university level? Write down at least two ideas for how you could improve your writing process this semester.

4. Write down at least two questions about effective reading or writing processes that you thought about as you read these two chapters.

5. Throughout this semester, your writing will be criticized. This criticism is intended to help you improve your reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, but it can still sting. To start preparing for this criticism, read "How to Take Constructive Criticism Like a Champ". We'll discuss the article in class.

6. If you want to work ahead, continue reading and taking notes on The Transition to College Writing.
